Introducing ART-Fi

Founded in 2010, ART-Fi has developed a new state of the art in electromagnetic measurement technology (D-PHASE®) which allows instant and precise near-field direct measurements of all electromagnetic wave characteristics. ART-Fi is first focused on delivering innovative testing solutions for Human Radio-Frequency Exposure (Specific Absorption Rate - SAR) to exclusively enable 5G measurements new challenges. Multiple simultaneous emissions have become the basic state of the art of current wireless technologies and will be essential in the future wireless networks evolutions.

ART-Fi's technology therefore directly addresses this central need for the first time in the world and becomes the new state of the art in Human RF exposure measurement replacing the technically outdated historical approaches.ART-Fi has integrated its innovative D-PHASE® technology in ART-MAN and ART-LiNE products range; testing fast and accurate allows to cover a broad range of applications from R&D, certification, production and reconditioning wireless devices’ life cycle phases. This is critical for 5G measurements accuracy and coverage but also for the guarantee provided to consumers via health regulation.

This technology is compliant with the most advanced SAR measurement standard available IEC 62209-3. ART-Fi holds several patents and has patents pending applications relative to probes, RF vector signal analysis and broadband Human tissue-simulating fluids. As a societal impact conscious innovative company, ART-Fi is supporting the wireless industry dynamics with the most advanced state of the art measurement technology for antenna radiation measurements, taking into account the evolution of consumer usages and expectations.

ART-Fi has developed a revolutionary industrial technology in the domain of the electromagnetic wave measurements : the only one enabling Full 5G measurement of Human Radio-Frequency (RF) exposure due to wireless devices' simultaneous emissions.

Disruptive technologies

D-PHASE® is a disruptive technology enabling the access to the four fundamental characteristics of an electromagnetic wave: amplitude, phase, time and time-frequency dependency

D-PHASE® is the first and only measurement technology capable of measuring all fundamental quantities involved in the characterization of electromagnetic signals: amplitude, phase, frequency and time. ART-Fi invented this technology which allows to avoid any interpolation / extrapolation and artificial test modes non representative of wireless devices. For maximizing accuracy, ART-Fi exclusively applies physics' laws and allows testing wireless devices real emission modes.

The phase of the electromagnetic field is essential for high precision measurement. It allows the total field to be retrieved using solely the laws of physics without any approximation. This disruptive near-field technology natively generates real-time and accurate measurement of antenna radiation. D-PHASE® technology is future-proof, it addresses today and tomorrow's measurement challenges caused by rapid and strong innovation in the wireless industry.

Mathias Fink, a distinguished professor at ESPCI Paris, founded the renowned Langevin Institute in 1990, specializing in wave propagation and acoustics. He's a member of prestigious scientific academies and has garnered numerous awards for his groundbreaking research, which spans telecommunications, medical imaging, and wave control in complex media, resulting in over 75 patents, 450 peer-reviewed papers, and the creation of six successful start-up companies from his innovations.

“The technology developed by ART-Fi to predict the value of the electromagnetic field perceived by a smartphone user is very original. It exploits the principles of holography and by using the phase information and the inversion of Maxwell's equations, it allows to reach an unbeatable precision compared to other techniques. It is without context a technological breakthrough.”

D-Phase is a state-of-the-art technology for ensuring source-independent SAR and OTA measurements, which are mandatory for metrology. D-Phase also generates the Huygens box, which is unique in its ability to combine with the Electromagnetic Digital tool for augmented measurements in complex environments.

History

SAGEM Mobiles’ Quality Laboratory encountered a major difficulty in trying to reduce SAR to avoid SAR market recalls of mobile phones exceeding the limit. The aim was to reduce SAR while maintaining a high level of quality of service (connectivity, OTA performances). The measurement technology available during this period was slow, complex and expensive leading to several weeks to perform a single mobile certification! The founder of this high level quality laboratory and three electromagnetism experts from Sagem Mobiles and French University Supélec, started the development of a fully innovative concept, to offer a brand new measurement experience to the industry. This disruptive near-field technology was identified as a strategic innovation and has leaded to a new international metrological standard:

IEC 62209-3 standard. The high level of performances of this technology called D-PHASE® leaded to create the ART-Fi company in 2010 with the aim to constantly secure humans to radiations by providing the highest level of accuracy as possible while maximizing the devices' transmission performances.

Words from the CEO

As a former Mobile Manufacturer and Head of an EMF laboratory, I noticed a gap in quality service and user health. The mobile industry was advancing faster than test and measurement technologies, which were often outdated and expensive.

Determined to change this, I invested in innovative measurement technology to address the evolving needs of new mobile generations, network evolutions, and customer demands. My goal is to support regulators and manufacturers in creating safer, more effective products.

I believe that the Test & Measurement industry must be led by customer-focused innovators. At a time when connectivity and health are crucial, my team and I are dedicated to providing our customers with cutting-edge antenna measurement solutions.
